Substitute Handbook Home

Before You Begin

Work when and where you want! Signing up to substitute with Amphi is easy:

These pages contain information on our Absence Management System, important safety and security measures, as well as step-by-step guides on how to report to (and leave from) assignments.

We'll see you soon!

  1. Review the Certificated Substitutes or Classified/Support Staff Substitutes sections above to get information on compensation and how to apply for each position - then submit your application.
  2. We'll process it, contact you to complete the onboarding paperwork, and sign you up for an orientation.
  3. After reviewing our handbook, accept assignments and begin your Amphi experience!

After your application is processed, you'll be notified and will receive the majority of your onboarding paperwork, which will be completed electronically.

Please bring the following to complete your file when you come to turn in the paperwork:

  • Your social security card (for payroll purposes) - copies are not acceptable
  • A picture I.D., such as a state I.D., driver's license, or any picture I.D. that has your physical description on it (e.g. height, weight, eye color, etc.) for notarizing paperwork
  • In accordance with Governing Board Policy GBGCA-R, it is a condition of employment that all employees present proof of immunity for measles, mumps and rubella.  You must provide Human Resources a copy of your records of immunization or a statement signed by a licensed physician or local health officer that affirms serologic evidence of having had measles or rubella.
    • If you were born prior to January 1, 1957 you are considered immune and do not need vaccinations.
    • If you were born after January 1, 1957, you must show proof of the series of vaccinations.

If you do not fall in the immune categories, the Arizona Department of Health Services will require that you be excluded from work for a minimum of 2 weeks from the outbreak of the last diagnosed case of measles, mumps, or rubella. You may call the Pima County Health Dept. at (520)243-2880 for clinics, fees, hours, and further information.

In response to OSHA regulations, all employees are required to be oriented on Amphitheater School District’s Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Plan. As is explained in the orientation, if you are in an “at risk” work category, you will be offered the Hepatitis B vaccination, but it is strictly voluntary.

You're almost there! Once all required paperwork has been submitted and processed, then you'll attend an orientation.

Orientations are held approximately once a month, last about 2-3 hours, and are held by Zoom or scheduled appointment.

You will have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have, and also meet other substitutes!
