Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Karen Brown

I have been a Registered Nurse (RN) for over 20 years.  Prior to obtaining my RN license, I was a Licensed Vocational Nurse and Certified Nursing Assistant.  I had the privilege of working with medically fragile infants and children for many of those years.  During this time, I also worked as a part-time nursing  instructor. The desire to learn and advance in my career never left me.  I decided to go back to school to obtain my Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on Education.  This was ambitious, to say the least.  As a mother of four, it was one of my most challenging endeavors.  In 2014, I became the Director of a Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide program at the local community college.

I moved from Northern California to Tucson in 2019 and absolutely love it here. I worked as a cancer research nurse  for the University of Arizona and transitioned back to teaching last year.  My passion is teaching and I am very excited to be working at IRHS and Pima Community College.  This is a unique opportunity for myself and all the students.  I look forward to developing this program and watching the students grow.
