Welcome!

I am very happy to have the opportunity to work with your student this year.

A Bit of Background . . .

I am a native Tucsonan. My early educational days were spent within the Flowing Wells school district. I received both my Bachelor of Arts in English Education and Master of Arts in Language, Reading, and Culture from the University of Arizona. Go CATS! I hold English Language Arts and Community College teaching certifications, and endorsements as a Reading Specialist, a Gifted Specialist, and an English Language Development Specialist.

I enjoy working with young adults and helping them to become better students. I am very passionate about education and its importance for a successful life beyond the school system. I hope that I can create a spark in your student and help them to become lifelong Master Students and learners. I also hope to give students the tools to help them be successful in their future endeavors.

The quickest way to contact me is via email at rslattery@amphi.com. You may also contact me at Ironwood Ridge High School; (520) 407-4185.

Core Educational Beliefs:

As an educator, I believe that all students have an innate desire to learn, each possesses unique strengths, talents, and needs that should be recognized and nurtured in ways that empowers them so that they may become successful, productive, contributing members of a global citizenry.

Some work history about me . . .

This is my 19th year with the Amphitheater school district, and this is my 32nd year of teaching.

This is my third year as a Dual Enrollment WRT101/102 Instructor, in partnership with Pima Community College, for Ironwood Ridge High School.

My partnership with the Amphitheater school district began in 2004, when I was hired as a Middle School reading and writing teacher at Coronado K-8 school. In my 19 years with the Amphitheater school district, I have held a variety of positions; English/Language Arts teacher, Gifted Specialist, REACH Internship Instructor, REACH Humanities instructor, and English Language Development Specialist.

Prior to my employment within the Amphi school district, I was an English / Language Arts / Newspaper-Journalism / Dual Credit educator at Casa Grande Union High School where I taught sophomores and seniors for 10 years. During that same time period, I also worked as an Adjunct Communications Professor for Central Arizona College teaching English Composition-Writing 101/102.
